North of Peru
Norte del Perú amigo
July 2018. I started my internship in the Parque Nacional de Cutervo. I am staying there for 3 months, and during spare time, I´m visiting the area with the other volunteers.
The North of Peru is little famous, little visited. But it has a lot to offer. Its history and archeology are rich and the area is really interesting. It was, for instance, the place where the civilization of the Chachapoyas, the "Warriors of the Clouds", lived. They were quite forgotten by History. Their existence was well hidden in the safe place of the cliffs from the high forests, perched at 3000 m high through the climbing plants and the Bromeliaceae. They are famous for their white skin and their large height, really different from the current peruvians. They were doing embalming of their deads and were great builders with an artistic sense well developed.
